Marquis de Vauban - october 28th 1685 at the vineyards of Cônes.
HISTORY : On october 24th 1685, Marquis of Vauban arrived at Blaye. He settled on the "des Cônes" where he drafted a long report and two projects of fortification which will be put back to her Majesty Louis XIV.
Then on order of king, Marquis of Vauban supervised the construction of the Citadelle of Blaye until his completion in 1689

The wives of the Heads of State of the United States and France supported the dynamic activities of “The American Friends of Versailles”, presided over by Mrs. Davis R. Hamilton. On 16th June 2007, the Cuvée du Roy took pride of place on all the tablesat the dinner and Marie-Antoinette Ball.
A justly honoured return. On 27th June 1660, King Louis XIV, then the guest of the Duc de Saint Simon, owner of the Marquis de Vauban vineyard at Blaye, after having enjoyed this precious drink, purchased "threedozen of the vineyard's bottles for six sous per bottle" for his use at Versailles.
